"I did not spend a penny of the money from the presidential campaign account intended for humanitarian purposes. I absolutely do not understand what is scandalous about it," Kosor told reporters in Duga Resa, about 70 kilometres southwest of Zagreb, following criticism by the media over the fact that the presidential campaign funds were paid into her account.
"Some of the money went to children mine victims from Skabrnja and to the children of the Domini family for education, while the rest of the funds in the amount of 550,000 kuna will also be spent for humanitarian purposes for children and most of it will go to the Department of Oncology," Kosor said.
Asked if the rest of the amount would be transferred to the party's account, Kosor said that this would be decided in consultations with the HDZ.
"I will make all the donations as I have done previously, without media hype. I do not want to score political or any other points on this," she stressed.
Kosor lost to the incumbent President Stjepan Mesic in the election runoff on 16 January.
"My only sin is that I had the courage to run for the President of the Republic and that I entered the runoff, which some people obviously did not like," Kosor said.
Kosor was in Duga Resa today to present 100% disabled war veteran Darko Maric with a deed of donation for housing.
