ZAGREB, July 14 (Hina) - The majority of parliamentary parties on Thursday supported amendments to the public procurement law by which the government plans to make the public procurement process more transparent and efficient and adjust it to EU standards.

Even though it mostly support the amendments, the Opposition said that the law should include provisions regulating the institute of the public and private partnership so as to avoid suspicions about illegal activities in the privatisation of the state portfolio.

The ruling parties hailed the government-sponsored bill of amendments to the postal service a saying that the changes would bring order in the grey market of courier companies, but the majority of Opposition parties opposed it, saying that the Government wanted to keep the monopoly over the Croatian Posts.

At the end of today's session, deputies also debated a bill on mine removal.

Parliament will resume its session on Friday when it is expected to discuss bills of amendments to the law on the rights of war veterans and the law on housing savings.
