ZAGREB, June 15 (Hina) - A geographic information system for the national park "Kornati" has been established with the exact number of land plots, houses and real estate owners in the Kornati archipelago.

According to the system, there are 7,800 plots in the archipelago, the head of the State Surveying Department, Zeljko Bacic, said on Wednesday at an event at which this pilot project was presented.

The presentation was also attended by Norwegian Ambassador Knut Torassen.

The implementation of the project lasted about two years and the project was drawn up by the State Surveying Department and the Norwegian Mapping and Cadastre Authority. The project is worth some eight million kuna, of which five million was donated by Norway and around three million was secured from the state budget and the local budgets of the national park Kornati and Murter municipality.

Bacic recalled that cooperation with Norway in geo-informatics projects had started in late 2001. There are already three sets of Croatian-Norwegian geo-informatics projects amounting to some 45 million kuna, of which 28 million has been donated by Norway and the rest has been secured from the Croatian state budget, he said.

The projects envisage the establishment of a system for digitalising cadastral plans, a system of specifications and a central topographic basis for the drawing up of topographic maps, as well as assistance in the establishment of a Croatian surveying institute.
