ZAGREB, June 9 (Hina) - An exhibition of Croatia's monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage List was opened at the UN Office at Geneva on Wednesday.

The exhibition was staged under the auspices of the office's Director-General, Sergei Ordzhonikidze. It was organised by the Croatian Permanent Mission to the UN at Geneva, in cooperation with the Croatian ministries of foreign affairs and European integration and culture.

The opening was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Geneva, city authorities, and Croatian emigrants.

In his opening address, Croatia's permanent ambassador to the UN, Gordan Markotic, said that with this exhibition Croatia had joined in the marking of the UN's 60th anniversary through a presentation of its monuments on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

In 1979, UNESCO put the cities of Dubrovnik and Split, and Plitvice Lakes National Park, on its list, subsequently adding the town of Trogir, the cathedral in Sibenik and the basilica in Porec.
