BANJA LUKA, May 31 (Hina) - At an extraordinary session on Monday evening deputies in the Republika Srpska Parliament dismissed a draft on the reform of the Bosnian police despite warnings from representatives of the international community that such a decision would result in sanctions and lead the Bosnian Serb entity into isolation.

As many as 62 deputies of the 76 that attended the session supported a conclusion under which any model of organisation of Bosnian police disregarding entity demarcation lines is unacceptable.

Parliament reiterated its commitment to reforms of police structures in Bosnia "within the framework of the Constitutions of Republika Srpska and Bosnia-Herzegovina" and stressed that negotiations on police reform should be continued in the institutions of Republika Srpska and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The conclusion of the Bosnian Serb parliament entirely disregards three EU principles for police reform which are the condition for the start of negotiations on Bosnia's process of stabilisation and association with the EU.

The parliament adopted the said conclusion after Prime Minister Pero Bukejlovic gave a talk and said that the entity's government would continue to insist on police reform within the framework of the constitutions of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, which guaranteed the functioning of the Interior Ministry of the Bosnian Serb entity on the entire territory of that entity.
