SARAJEVO, May 23 (Hina) - Despite some outstanding issues, relations between Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are very good and the two parliaments will encourage executive authorities to start dealing with all existing problems in the spirit of good neighbourly and friendly cooperation, members of foreign policy committees of the Croatian and Bosnian parliaments said in Sarajevo on Monday.

The delegation of the Croatian Sabor's Foreign Policy Committee, led by chairman Gordan Jandrokovic, was on a two-day official return visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina. On the first day of the visit, the delegation met members of the Foreign Policy Commission of the Bosnian Parliament's House of Representatives, and a number of representatives of legislative and executive authorities, including Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic and Security Minister Barisa Colak.

"We have agreed that we have friendly and good neighbourly relations and that they should be further advanced," Jandrokovic told reporters after the talks, stressing that Croatia fully supported Bosnia's sovereignty and stability and integration with the European Union, as well as the equality of its three constituent peoples, "who will deal with all problems within institutions of Bosnia-Herzegovina".

Jandrokovic also said that Croatia was ready to support Bosnia-Herzegovina on its path to Euro-Atlantic associations, adding that the countries' parliamentarians would do all in their power to promote bilateral relations.

The chairman of the Bosnian House of Representatives' Foreign Policy Commission, Martin Raguz, said the two sides had also discussed some sensitive issues, such as the status of the southern Croatian port of Ploce, property relations, and implementation of the free trade agreement.

Raguz said the two sides were agreed that the current situation with the Ploce port did not suit any side and that Bosnia-Herzegovina was very much interested in the port being used with full capacity.

Raguz said that despite some problems, relations between the two countries remained good. To support his statement, he said that Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina were the best trade partners and that Croatia was the leading investor in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The two sides also agreed that the authorities in Sarajevo should appoint an ambassador to Croatia as soon as possible to raise diplomatic relations to the highest level.

The Bosnian parliament will ask the state commission to appoint a new candidate as soon as possible and Croatia is expected to approve the candidate's nomination under urgent procedure, Raguz said.
