PODGORICA, May 1 (Hina) - Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic on Saturday called on Belgrade and Pristina political leaders to meet in Montenegro to start talks on the final status of Kosovo.

Speaking to Montenegrin media, he said Podgorica was willing to provide conditions for official Belgrade-Pristina talks right away.

Krivokapic said it was in the interests of Montenegro and the entire region for the talks to take place because they would resolve the political situation in the Balkans.

Analysts in Pristina said the proposal was acceptable because "Montenegro is Kosovo's friend" and that "so far it has been neutral and treated the province fairly".

One of the leaders of the Serb List for Kosovo and Metohija coalition, Goran Bogdanovic, said he saw no reason why the future status of Kosovo should be discussed in Podgorica and not in Belgrade or Pristina.
