In a military barracks on Mt. Manjaca in western Bosnia, participants in a four-month military training course shouted "Republika Srpska" instead of "Bosnia-Herzegovina" while taking an oath by which they pledged to protect the sovereignty, territorial integrity, constitutional order and political independence of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Before the oath-taking ceremony, the Bosnian national anthem was played, interrupted by soldiers' catcalls. The anthem of the Serb entity was greeted with a long applause.
Commenting on the incident, Republika Srpska Defence Ministry spokesman Branko Trkulja described it as a misdemeanour, adding that there had been no way to influence the will of the young people and their reaction to pressure to set up a single army.
A similar incident happened in a barracks in the eastern part of the entity.
