LJUBLJANA, March 22 (Hina) - Slovene President Janez Drnovsek said on Tuesday that it should not be expected too much of his meeting with Croatian resident Stjepan Mesic, scheduled to take place in Bizeljsko near Brezice on Thursday.

"This will be an informal neighbourly and friendly meeting at which we will exchange opinions about European and bilateral issues," Drnovsek said in his interview with Slovene Radio in which he commented on Slovene-Croatian relations and the process of Croatia's integration with the European Union.

Asked to comment on Slovenia's support to the start of Croatia's negotiations with the EU as soon as possible, despite the fact that General Ante Gotovina was not yet extradited to the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Drnovsek said it was a "delicate issue" and added that he saw the support as an attempt of the Janez Jansa cabinet not to sharpen relations with Croatia and to create an atmosphere in which outstanding issues could be solved easier.

Asked about the 2001 Racan-Drnovsek border agreement, the Slovene president said the agreement gave the best results so far because it dealt with the border at land and at sea, adding the agreement would be Ljubljana's most important argument in case of arbitration.
