ZAGREB, March 18 (Hina) - Ex-Macedonian Interior Minister Ljubo Boskoski, who received the Hague war crimes tribunal's indictment against him in a Croatian prison, could be transferred to The Hague late next week, his attorney said on Friday.

"Boskoski has decided to surrender to the Hague tribunal and after the Croatian judiciary adopts the necessary decisions, he might be transferred... later next week or immediately after Easter," Rajko Brankovic told Hina.

The UN court has accused the 44-year-old Boskoski, who has Croatian and Macedonian citizenship, of crimes against Albanians during Macedonia's 2001 conflict. He has been in prison in Pula, Croatia since last August on charges of being responsible, in his capacity as minister, for the killing by police of seven immigrants from Pakistan and India in 2002.

Boskoski was handed the Hague tribunal's indictment yesterday. It is being translated from Macedonian into Croatian.

Next week the county court in Pula is expected to decide if it will release him and discontinue proceedings in Croatia because of the case in The Hague and hand him over to the UN court in line with the constitutional law on cooperation with the tribunal.

Brankovic said he advised Boskoski to surrender and thought he would agree.

The Hague tribunal has indicted Boskoski, who was Macedonia's interior minister from May 2001 to November 2002, for a police attack on Ljuboten, a village near the capital of Skopje, in August 2001 in which seven Albanians were killed, about 100 were imprisoned and mistreated, while about 30 houses and other buildings were set on fire or damaged.

Boskoski has been indicted alongside Johan Tarculovski, 30, the commander of the unit which carried out the attack. Tarculovski surrendered to the UN court on Wednesday.

They are charged with three counts of murder, wanton destruction of civilian buildings, and cruel treatment as violations of the laws and customs of war.
