The spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, Florence Hartmann, said Bajic's visit was part of regular cooperation with Croatia and that the talks, held today and yesterday, were not related to the case of fugitive General Ante Gotovina, the main obstacle to the start of Croatia's European Union entry negotiations.
Hartmann said the talks were an opportunity to exchange information on investigations launched in Croatia, the Prosecutor's Office's unfinished investigations, the referral of cases, and other cooperation-related issues.
Some Croatian media said that Bajic, the government's chief coordinator of the hunt for Gotovina, was expected to brief chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte and her associates about the latest results of the measures that were taken ahead of the EU's decision on whether to open negotiations with Croatia.
Hartmann said del Ponte would not scheduled to meet EU chair Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn on Monday.
