Sanader said in parliament during Question Time on Wednesday that Condic deserved credit for his contribution in the defence of Croatia during the Homeland Defence War. However, his political work is disputable, Sanader said while commenting on Condic's plans to form a political party with a military wing.
When asked by Social Democrat MP Nenad Stazic to comment on Condic's statements, Sanader criticised them as being absolutely undemocratic and inadmissible.
Condic, who held a news conference in Split on Thursday, said that his statement was correctly carried by the media and that he meant it was high time for war veterans to establish a political party which, among other things, would have a military or veterans' wing. He explained that this wing would be engaged in the protection of war veterans as well as in the refutation of all accusations levelled against them by the authorities in Croatia and the international community.
In this context Condic denied that he announced the establishment of a party's army or the undermining of the constitutional order.
"It is unbelievable that those who through their struggle established the constitutional and legal order are now being accused of undermining it," Condic said.
Responding to Stazic's proposal that security services should interview him over those statements, Condic said that "unlike Stazic and his party, I have never violated the Constitution."
