According to the letter, copies of which Ajdukovic handed over to reporters who were covering Saturday's celebration of the ZVO Patron Saint, Simeon Mirotociv, in the eastern Croatian city of Vukovar, the Croatian Serb leader said that at this stage of Croatia's process of coming closer to the European Union "it is of the utmost importance to achieve overall unity".
The ZVO chief also expressed readiness to do anything, if necessary, that "can be to the benefit of the entire community in Croatia" and which would enable the start of the entry talks on 17 March this year.
Ajdukovic also wrote that the international community was exerting "terrible pressure" on Croatia in connection with the issue of the indicted general Ante Gotovina, while at the same time "unjustifiably neglecting" all positive things that Croatia had made in the democratisation of society, protection of human and minority rights and in the rule of law.
Present at the Vukovar celebration were local Serb leaders, the chief of the Independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS), Vojislav Stanimirovic, and Orthodox priests who held a service on this occasion.
