A customs official said on Wednesday the measure had not been applied before because it was unclear and that it was put in force following a warning from Germany.
The head of the customs administration, Franc Kosir, said on POP-TV their German counterparts had recently notified them that a Croatian driver had been caught in Germany driving without the European CEMT permit but only with a "bilateral" one for transport from Croatia into Slovenia.
Slovenia has asked Brussels for an opinion on the aforementioned regulation, Slovene media quoted the chief of the Transport Ministry International Department, Matjaz Vrcak, as saying. Some media say only the Slovene Embassy in Brussels was asked for an opinion.
Kosir said he was sure the Slovene interpretation of the regulation was correct and that other EU countries should apply it as well.
