Slovene hauliers will be able to transport goods between Croatia and nonmembers of the European Union on the basis of Croatian permits, while the transport of goods between Croatia and EU member states will be allowed only if Slovene hauliers possess CEMT (European Conference of Ministers of Transport) permits, according to instructions on the use of Croatian permits for third countries for 2005.
The ministry sent the instructions to the Croatian Customs Authority on Tuesday and informed the Slovene Transport Ministry.
Last Friday, the Slovene ministry sent its interpretation of the rules regulating the use of Slovene permits for third countries.
Under the bilateral Road Transport Treaty, Croatia and Slovenia have exchanged 6,500 permits for third countries for 2005.
According to the Slovene Transport Ministry, Slovenia has restricted the use of permits for third countries by applying European Commission Decree no. 2454/93.
Under new Slovene rules, Croatian hauliers can transport goods between Slovenia and other EU members only on the basis of CEMT permits, and can use permits for third countries only for the transport of goods between Slovenia and countries that are not EU members.
All Croatian haulier associations, the Chamber of the Economy and the Chamber of Crafts have been informed of the new measures for Slovene hauliers, the Croatian ministry said.
