ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - The spokesman for the Croatian InteriorMinistry, Zlatko Mehun, on Tuesday sent an open letter to thepresident of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND), DraguticLucic, asking that the HND Court of Honor to
discuss the "publicationof lies without concrete evidence in articles from the Globus weeklyand the Jutarnji List daily referring to accusations that seniorpolice officials are financing the escape of general Ante Gotovina".

Ministry, Zlatko Mehun, on Tuesday sent an open letter to the president of the
Croatian Journalists' Association (HND), Dragutic Lucic, asking that the HND
Court of Honor to discuss the "publication of lies without concrete evidence in
articles from the Globus weekly and the Jutarnji List daily referring to
accusations that senior police officials are financing the escape of general
Ante Gotovina".Mehun expressed conviction that Lucic and the HND would know how to find
the strength and "unmask those journalists who cause damage to the reputation
of journalism as a profession by writing unfounded, false and tendentious
articles and fabricate 'truths' detrimental for the society".
The spokesman said that "lately some media and journalists, by producing
lies about the Interior Ministry and its top officials, are trying to create
an opinion that Croatia is still a country in which even the highest police
officials have sunk into lawlessness and crime".
