ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - Commenting on a meeting between Israeli PrimeMinister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian President Mahmud Abas in theEgyptian summer resort of Sharm El Sheik, the Croatian ForeignMinistry on Tuesday hailed the renewal
of the Israel-Palestinedialogue and expressed hope the dialogue would contribute toovercoming the differences regarding the peace process and encourageserious negotiations on a permanent solution to the Palestine-Israelconflict, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian President Mahmud Abas in the Egyptian
summer resort of Sharm El Sheik, the Croatian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday
hailed the renewal of the Israel-Palestine dialogue and expressed hope the
dialogue would contribute to overcoming the differences regarding the peace
process and encourage serious negotiations on a permanent solution to the
Palestine-Israel conflict, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a
statement."The Foreign Ministry hopes the dialogue at the highest level will help
the overcoming of differences in standpoints on the peace process and encourage
serious negotiations on a permanent solution to the Palestine-Israel
conflict," the statement said.
The ministry also supports a cease-fire agreement.
Progress in Israel-Palestine relations and a step towards the resolution
of the crisis would give an immeasurably important effect on the reduction of
tensions in the Near East and it would the resolution of the overall situation
in the region on the principles of peace, democratic stability and cooperation
among countries in that part of the world, the ministry said in the
statement..
The ministry also said that by maintaining intensive and developed
relations with Israel and the Palestinian self-government, Croatia will
continue to support the peace process through a balanced approach.
