"The conference is aimed at strengthening the national defence system through the exchange of knowledge and experience with experts from the country and abroad and the establishing cooperation between institutions whose fundamental task is security in the country and the region," Antolis said.
The system must have a preventive function and it must be found on efficient laws, the chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs and National Security, Ivan Jarnjak, said.
Croatian Justice Minister Vesna Skare Ozbolt said terrorism must be prevented by all means and in accordance with the rule of law, on global and national level.
The two-day conference will focus on the strategic fight against terrorism and international cooperation.
