BELGRADE, Feb 5 (Hina) - Serbia's Acting Public Prosecutor Slobodan
Jankovic, War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic and Croatia's Public
Prosecutor Mladen Bajic signed a cooperation agreement in Belgrade on Saturday
at the start of a two-day conference entitled "Creating conditions for the
transfer of competences in proceedings initiated before the International
Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia under Rule 11 bis of the Rules of
Procedure and Evidence"."This agreement will break down the borders between the two countries
when it comes to the prosecution of perpetrators of any serious crimes and not
just war crimes," Bajic told Hina, adding that the agreement would enable
direct cooperation between relevant Croatian and Serbian prosecutors at all
levels and would expedite proceedings.
Bajic also said that fewer people would be involved in proceedings,
which would reduce the possibility of leaking of information.
The conference was organised by Serbia and Montenegro's National Council
for Cooperation with the Hague tribunal. It is being attended by
representatives of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, the tribunal and the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
