ZAGREB, Jan 30(Hina) - The National Office for e-Croatia has presented a draft national information security programme which envisages the establishment of a central computer security system, defines information security goals and the education of state officials employed in this field.

The programme will be implemented over a four-year period. It was drawn up by representatives of the intelligence and academic communities, and state administration bodies such as the National Office for e-Croatia and the ministries of European integration, defence and home affairs.

The draft programme is currently being publicly debated. The final version is expected to be presented by the end of February, Miroslav Kovacic said earlier this week. He

is the state secretary for the e-Croatia draft strategy, which is aimed at bringing information technology to Croatia.

Kovacic said the programme was a crucial document intended to systematically develop information technology in the country in line with demands set by Croatia's future membership of the European Union and NATO. He added that some of the programme's measures were already being implemented.

Kovacic also said the implementation of the e-Croatia 2007 project would not be delayed due to the introduction of uniform information security standards.
