State Secretary Branko Bacic said in Opatija on Monday that the existent form of the Druzba Adria project on integrating oil pipelines from Russia through several European countries to the Croatian Adriatic coast would be unacceptable for the economic interests and sustainable development of Croatia.
Bacic said this at a two-day seminar in the coastal resort of Opatija focusing on ballast waters in Croatia and the country's possibility of using Norwegian experience regarding this topic. The Opatija event was organised by the Croatian Sea Ministry and and the Oslo-based Fridtjof Nansen Institute, an independent foundation engaged in research on international environmental, energy, and resource management politics.
Bacic said that it was good to have the public being engaged in discussions while a study on the impact of the Druzba Adria project on the environment was being drawn up.
According to him, views of citizens are congruent with the government's standpoints on the matter.
