Crnic said that Miksic's claim, cited by the media, that Cnic promised him a telephone conversation, was not true.
Miksic's attempt to manipulate the media represents slander against me and the DIP, Crnic said and added that nobody, not even a presidential candidate, should make such imputations.
This represent the misuse of the media space given to Miksic, the DIP president said,
Responding to a reporter's claim that Miksic requested that new elections be held and announced a constitutional suit, Crnic said it was Miksic's rights to do so and that a decision would be made by the Constitutional Court.
Crnic said that DIP had overruled Miksic's objection that he was not allowed to have his own observers in the DIP as unfounded,
Crnic said that under the law, the work of election commissions could be monitored by representatives of political parties which nominated their candidates, non-governmental organisations and foreign observers.
Independent presidential candidates, and Miksic was one of them, were able to exercise the possibility of observing elections through non-governmental organisations, Crnic said and added that despite the fact that DIP had informed Miksic's election team of this possibility, Miksic's team did not exercise that right.
Given that Miksic did not take advantage of that possibility, his claims that he was in a less favourable position are inappropriate and unfounded, Crnic said.
Crnic resolutely dismissed speculations that he held talks with Prime Minister Ivo Sanader last night while waiting for the election results.
I most definitely did not have any contacts with the prime minister, Crnic told reporters. "I only talked to my wife," he said.
