Kosor's election team asked the DIP to ban a broadcast on the 100th anniversary of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), scheduled to be shown on the HTV from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm today.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by the incumbent president, Mesic, who has the HSS's backing in his efforts to win a second five-year term in office.
This is "in direct violation of the legal provisions which clearly define the role of the HTV in an election campaign", the HDZ election team said in a statement, adding that it would request that the HTV's Programming Council and the Directorate investigate the case and identify "persons abusing the public television network in that way".
The election team wants the DIP to ensure compliance with the law and to ban the broadcast until the presidential elections are over.
