ZAGREB, Nov 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday received credentials from the newly-appointed ambassadors of Canada, Brazil and Iran, Thomas Marr, Haroldo Teixeira Valladao Filha and Mohammad Hassan Fadaifard respectively, the Office of the President said in a statement.

Ambassador Marr said that closer economic relations were one of the main goals of his mission in Croatia, and added that he wished to relay Canada's experience in health, child care, the fight against crime, and tax policy.

Although Croatia has made significant progress in reforms, any help on that road is welcome, President Mesic said.

Presenting his credentials to President Mesic, the Brazilian ambassador said that he was Brazil's first resident ambassador in Croatia, adding that this was proof of good bilateral relations.

President Mesic agreed with this statement, stating that the opening of the Brazilian Embassy in Croatia was only the beginning of building closer bilateral relations in all areas.

The Iranian ambassador said that good relations between Croatia and Iran formed a basis for closer cooperation and stronger international stability and security.

President Mesic underlined Croatia's contribution to protecting peace in the world and building international relations based on full equality, respect for ethnic differences and prevention of any kind of intolerance, the statement said.
