"We have not changed our previous position. There can be room to comment on Ahtisaari's report, but no more negotiations," said Veton Surroui, who today returned from the United States, where he met top State Department and UN officials.
"The definition of Kosovo's status is now a global issue and it does not belong to only one part of the Contact Group... In the coming months, all UN 192 member countries must take a position on Kosovo's status," said Surroi.
He declined to speculate on when Ahtisaari would propose a package on Kosovo's status. He said that at his meetings in New York and Washington he requested that the package be proposed to Pristina and Belgrade immediately after parliamentary elections in Serbia in January, regardless of the electoral outcome.
