"We call on the Serb citizens of Kosovo to turn to the future. This means to be part of Kosovo institutions and an integral part of Kosovo as a state under construction. The future of the Serb community living in Kosovo is here," team spokesman Skender Hyseni said, relaying the message from Kosovo institutions.
"The response to this referendum in the Serb community in Kosovo is regrettable. But we must reiterate that we know the games Serbia is playing with such important documents as the constitution," Hyseni said, voicing confidence that the results of Sunday's referendum, at which the new constitution was approved, would have no influence on the process of defining Kosovo's status.
The Kosovo negotiating team expects no unilateral move on Belgrade's part to influence the international process taking place under the patronage of the highest international institutions, Hyseni said.
The team, which met today, also voiced hope that the UN's chief envoy for Kosovo, Martti Ahtisaari, would soon present a draft solution to the province's status, said Hyseni.
