OSIJEK, Nov 16 (Hina) - Ivica Magdic, the husband of Gordana Getos Magdic, the main witness in a war crimes case against independent member of Parliament Branimir Glavas, was sentenced to three months in prison with two years' probation for threatening a lawyer previously representing his wife.

Magdic was released after being in custody since November 7. He has the right to appeal.

The judgement was handed down by Osijek Municipal Court judge Azra Salitrezic after hearing the accused, the lawyer Radoslav Arambasic and a witness, the lawyer Lujo Medvidovic.

Magdic said he had verbally threatened Arambasic because the lawyer had been blackmailing his wife by saying he would challenge Magdic's custody over their child if she terminated his power of attorney to represent her in court. Magdic said he was sorry he made the threat.

Arambasic said Magdic had threatened him with death and that he had taken the threat seriously, requesting protection from the police and the court. He noted that Magdic had threatened him ever since he became his wife's legal representative.

Gordana Getos Magdic is detention in Zagreb.
