"The Ministry of the Interior most resolutely dismisses claims by Mr. Glavas and media reports the purpose of which is to reduce the filing of charges against Mr. Glavas to a personal conflict with Osijek-Baranja County Police Department head Vladimir Faber," the ministry said in a statement.
Independent MP Glavas told reporters in Osijek on Sunday that he was in no way connected with the "Sellotape case" and that Faber was trying to influence the case by advising suspects in the killings to implicate Glavas in exchange for amnesty.
The Ministry of the Interior says in its statement that Faber and his department are working professionally and lawfully and that it fully supports measures taken so far to discover and punish the perpetrators of war crimes in Osijek, as well as in other cases.
The filing of charges and investigation requests are the result of facts and evidence obtained in a joint investigation by police from Osijek, Zagreb and other Croatian cities, the ministry said.
