In a statement issued by his office in Sarajevo Tihic said that he was "absolutely against the announced signing of an agreement between Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina on prosecuting war crimes indictees according to their place of residence and not in the country where the crimes were committed".
Tihic said that such an agreement would certainly not be in the interest of Bosnia-Herzegovina since most war crimes were committed in that country.
In such a case, the State Court of Bosnia-Herzegovina would only try Bosniaks, because indicted Serbs and Croats would be put on trial in the neighbouring countries, Tihic said.
"If (Bosnia's Chief State Prosecutor) Marinko Jurcevic has made such a deal, he certainly could not have done it on behalf of Bosnia-Herzegovina, but only on his own behalf and in the interest of other countries," Tihic said in the statement, urging international officials in Bosnia to take all necessary measures to prevent the signing of the agreement.
