RADENCI, Sept 16 (Hina) - Croatian and Slovene business people met in Radenci, Slovenia, on Saturday and sent a letter to the two countries' prime ministers, calling on both sides to settle differences at the negotiating table and be willing to compromise.

The letter, suggested by the president of the Slovene-Croatian Friendship Society, Bozo Dimnik, welcomed the cooperation agreements between Prime Ministers Ivo Sanader of Croatia and Janez Jansa of Slovenia, but also emphasised that the current state of affairs was not optimal and that it damaged common interests and the flow of goods.

The letter, issued in the wake of a border incident earlier this week, also read that "our disunity is being exploited by other countries to their benefit and to our damage".

Also present at the meeting were Slovene Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak, Croatian presidential envoy Borislav Vuckovic, Croatian Assistant Economy Minister Igor Lucic, Slovene Ambassador to Croatia Milan Orozen Adamic, and representatives of the two countries' Chambers of the Economy.

Participants underlined a wish to further develop economic and other cooperation, saying that outstanding Croatian-Slovene issues should not affect relations.

Croatia and Slovenia are important trade partners to one another and it should remain so, it was said. The holding of a Croatian-Slovene investment conference was announced.

Speaking on behalf of the meeting's host, Crnomelj municipal head Andrej Fabijan described life along the border as "cooperation which is good. It has always been good and it will be good".
