The event is organised by Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe, Vienna, the Regional European Information and Education Center PBC in Pecs, the University of Zagreb and the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Pecs, under the intellectual sponsorship of the Danube Rectors" Conference.
The topic of the third edition of the Summer School on Regional Co-operation is "The Future of Europe - A View from the Danube Region".
The aims of this year's meetings are to enhance the awareness for the significance and possibilities of regional co-operation, discuss and to develop strategies for the improvement of co-operation in the region, bring young scientists from the countries of the Danube Region and Central Europe together to establish a regional scientific network within the European Research Area, foster the relations between the partner universities of the Danube Rectors" Conference and with other regional actors, and to prepare a sustainable series of events to be able to meet the tasks mentioned above.
The Danube Rector's Conference, established in 1983, is a network of 50 European universities from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Romania. The network is presided by the rector of Zagreb University, Helena Jasna Mancer.
