SPLIT, July 30 (Hina) - Croatian Science, Education and Sports
Minister Dragan Primorac said at a news conference in Split last week that the
government would ensure funds for the purchase of two new research ships to be
used by the Split Oceanography and Fisheries Institute and the Institute for
the Sea and the Coastal Areain Dubrovnik.
The investment, worth some 18 million kuna, is to be completed by 2008,
with the two institutes contributing with 25 percent of the funds.
The ships will be equipped with the most sophisticated technology and
state-of-the-art laboratories, and they will be the first investment in
oceanography in Croatia after more than 50 years, the minister said.
