ZAGREB, July 7 (Hina) - The coordinating body of Montenegrin minority councils in Croatia held a session in Zagreb on Friday to celebrate Montenegro's declaration of independence and Statehood Day.

The session was attended by senior state officials of Croatia and Montenegro and representatives of the embassies of Serbia, Poland, France and Russia in Zagreb. Also present were the two chairmen of the Montenegrin Assembly, Dragan Kujovic and Rifat Rastoder, and the deputy speaker of the Croatian Parliament, Luka Bebic.

In his address, Rastoder asked the people of Dubrovnik and Konavle for "their forgiveness or at least understanding" for Montenegro's role in the Serb-led military aggression against Croatia after Croatia declared independence from the Yugoslav federation in 1991.

Rastoder called on the ethnic Montenegrins in Croatia to contribute to the development and prosperity of Croatia as much as they did to Montenegro.
