During the talks, Mesic said Germany was the first country in Europe to understand that the break-up of the former Yugoslavia was inevitable and to recognise Croatia. Mesic thanked the CSU delegation on the support and assistance to Croatia during the Homeland War and now when the country is trying to achieve two strategic objectives - joining NATO and the EU, the statement said.
On belhaf of the SCU delegation, Peter Ramsauer, said the CSU was closely observing efforts Croatia was making on its path to the EU and supporting the country on that path.
The CSU delegation included 46 deputies from the German parliament.
