SARAJEVO, June 14 (Hina) - The Presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina on
Wednesday decided to recognise Montenegro as an independent state, thus
joining a number of European countries that have already recognised the former
member of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro, following a referendum on
independence held in May. The chairman of the Bosnian Presidency,
Sulejman Tihic, told reporters in Sarajevo that the Bosnian Foreign Ministry
was instructed to launch preparations for the establishment of diplomatic
relations with Podgorica.
Tihic said that the Bosnian Presidency had earlier received an official
statement reading that former diplomatic and consular offices of the state
union of Serbia and Montenegro in Sarajevo and Banja Luka would in the future
represent the interests of Serbia.
