BELGRADE, June 4 (Hina) - The Serbian parliament will establish at an extraordinary session on Monday that the Republic of Serbia, based on the Constitutional Charter, is the successor of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro and that it entirely inherits its international legal personality and international documents, Speaker Predrag Markovic said on Sunday.

"As the legal successor of the state union, Serbia must enter into possession of and formally and legally take over, namely inherit, what it created," Markovic told a press conference which focused on parliament's performance over the past three months.

He announced that Serbia's parliament would bind other state bodies to adopt within 45 days all legal acts and measures required to realise Serbia's international legal personality and the jurisdictions it would take over from the state union after Montenegro declared its independence yesterday.

Markovic said state bodies would thus be bound to settle all contentious issues between Serbia as successor of the state union and Montenegro as an independent state.

Neither Serbian President Boris Tadic nor Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica are expected to attend tomorrow's parliament session because it will not be a special session, said Markovic.
