"Important for me is the content of relations between Montenegro and Serbia as two independent states," he told the press commenting on recommendations from the European Union that regardless of the result of the referendum, Belgrade and Podgorica have to regulate their relations.
Vujanovic voiced confidence that settling Montenegro's status would enable everyone in to focus on economic and social issues.
"I see the referendum as an opportunity to democratically settle the most important issue which has been burdening Montenegro for decades. After it, we will turn to the common future in the interest of all citizens."
Vujanovic voiced confidence the majority would vote in favour of independence and international sovereignty.
Representatives of the Bosniak minority (Bosnian Muslims) in Montenegro called on members of this ethic minority to vote for Montenegro's independence.
According to media reports, other ethnic minorities in Montenegro also seem to be in favour of the republic's sovereignty.
