PODGORICA, May 1 (Hina) - Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic on Monday accused part of the Serbian government, with Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica at the helm, of "active involvement in the referendum campaign" on Montenegro's independence and of "openly supporting the opposition in Montenegro".

Vujanovic said some Serbian government ministers spoke of the referendum by using the same arguments as the unionist bloc and that their relationship was "outside of what a relationship between two states should be".

Vujanovic said that on the other hand, Serbian President Boris Tadic's relationship to the referendum was "fair" and "clear". "He prefers the state union (of Serbia and Montenegro) and its preservation. His arguments in favour of the union are comprehensible and this position is fair".

Speaking at a promotional rally in Bar organised within the referendum campaign, Vujanovic said that Montenegro's neighbours as well as the European Union would honour the decision Montenegrin citizens would democratically express at the referendum.

"We won't wait long for our decision on independence to be accepted," he said, adding that the EU's role had been very useful because its representatives had taken part in conceiving the referendum and it assumed the responsibility to accept the decision.

Vujanovic added the decision would be accepted because Montenegro would respect all the prescribed standards.
