The award was established by the Croatian Culture Club to be bestowed on world figures in politics, science and culture for their advocacy of Croatian interests in the world.
The silver medal, presented this year for the first time, is the work of sculptor Damir Matausic.
The award ceremony at the Museum of Arts and Crafts was held under the auspices of the Culture Ministry. In attendance were numerous figures from politics, culture and the economy.
Croatian Culture Club president Sime Simatovic said he was pleased the recipient of the award was Pack, who he said had used her authority to advocate Croatian interests, especially during the 1990s war.
He recalled that the Vucedol Dove dated back to the third millennium BC and became the symbol of Croatia's struggle for independence after the Homeland War.
Presenting the award, PM Sanader thanked Pack for her contribution to Croatia's promotion at numerous forums and international conferences.
Sanader said "Pack is the best advocate of Croatia in Europe and the world... She also voiced criticisms, which we accepted and are grateful to her for them".
Pack, who is a European Parliament coordinator for education and culture, expressed gratitude for the award and said she would continue to speak for Croatia and its position in Europe. She added she would also dedicate her efforts to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia and Montenegro so that they could become stable.
Pack said she became interested in Croatia during the Homeland War and was especially moved by a visit to a kindergarten in 1991.
Pack underlined that PM Sanader represented Croatia in Europe in a very dignified manner, and also thanked Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
