ZAGREB, April 10 (Hina) - Croatia and Latvia have good parliamentary relations and Latvia is interested in deepening economic cooperation, Croatian Parliament Speaker Vladmir Seks and his Latvian counterpart, Ingrida Udre, said Moday.

Latvia is very interested in economic cooperation with Croatia because Latvia's shipbuilding company has ordered ten tankers worth 450 million dollars from Croatia's 3. Maj shipbuilding company, Udre, who is on an official visit to Croatia, told reporters after talks with Seks.

Latvia supports Croatia on its path to the European Union and it showed its support in 2005 when it, together with the other two Baltic countries, adopted the so-called Baltic declaration which supports the opening of Zagreb's EU membership talks, Udre said, adding that the declaration was adopted at the level of prime ministers.

She stressed that Riga also supported Croatia's entering NATO.

Seks thanked Latvia on supporting Croatia's joining Euro-Atlantic associations, adding that Croatia could benefit from Latvia's experience on that path.

Seks and Udre agreed that the introduction of charter flights connecting Riga and the Adriatic coast would promote the two countries' tourist exchange. He accepted his counterpart's invitation to visit Latvia.

The Latvian officials will be received by Croatia Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Tuesday morning.
