The EP today adopted a resolution following a report by the chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Elmar Brok, on the EC document on enlargement in which it also took a position on the European prospects of Southeast European countries.
The ministry also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the EP had recognised the progress Croatia had made in meeting all conditions for full EU membership, primarily political and economic ones, as well as Croatia's readiness to strengthen regional cooperation.
The statement read that Croatia welcomed all initiatives which affirmed the European prospects of Southeast European countries and which were directed towards the political stabilisation and economic development of the region.
The ministry recalled that at Croatia's initiative the EU had accepted the Central European Free Trade Agreement as a model of regional economic cooperation and as preparation for participation in the internal EU market.
The statement said that Croatia would use its forthcoming chairing of the South East European Cooperation Process to further promote the European prospects of all countries in the region and their links with the EU.
