ZAGREB, Jan 30 (Hina) - The secretary-general of the Kosovo
Democratic Alliance, Fatmir Sejdiu, is the candidate of that leading
parliamentary party in Kosovo for the new president of the UN-administered
province. The party presidency on Monday agreed that Sejdiu should
be nominated as the successor to the deceased Ibrahim Rugova, who died on 21
January.
The 54-year-old Sejdiu is a professor at the law school and the school
of political science in Pristina and is fluent in French and English.
Over the weekend the local media speculated that Parliament Speaker
Nexhat Daci was the likeliest candidate to succeed Rugova.
