The main hearing resumed in The Hague with the testimony of a defence witness, a retired Yugoslav Army lieutenant after the trial was adjourned for five weeks due to the court"s regular winter recess and the health of the accused.
At the start of the hearing the trial chamber did not address the motion by the ailing indictee for conditional and temporary release in Russia where he would like to undergo medical treatment due to his high blood pressure and other health problems.
Last week, the Russian Federation sent its guarantees for Milosevic's provisional release.
The ICTY chief prosecutor, Carla del Ponte, has said that she strongly opposes Milosevic's release and that she expects a trial chamber to reject the motion.
Since February 2002 when it started, the Milosevic trial has been discontinued about a score of times due to Milosevic's health problems such as high blood pressure, a heart condition and influenza.
