President Mesic said Croatia was continuing to restructure and modernise its army, and Minister Melescanu said that his country would continue to provide support to Croatia on its road to NATO.
The two officials also discussed Croatia's accession to the EU, with the Romanian minister reiterating his country's support for Croatia's efforts to join European associations.
Melescanu was also received for talks by the State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, Hido Biscevic, who thanked the minister for his country's support for Croatia's bid to join the EU and NATO.
Biscevic welcomed announcements at the last NATO summit in Riga, saying that he expected Croatia to be invited at the 2008 summit in Bucharest to join NATO.
