At average, a state prosecutor's office works approximately three months on one criminal charge, while courts dismiss about 35 percent of all charges pressed.
Following indictments issued by state prosecutor's offices, in 87.4 percent of all cases courts found defendants guilty, in 7.3 percent of the cases courts delivered acquittals while in 5.3 percent of the cases courts dismisses the indictments.
Last year in 16.1 percent of the cases courts gave prison sentences without the right to parole, which according to Bajic is the largest percentage since the Chief State Prosecutor's Office has been submitting reports to parliament. Bajic also said that the State Prosecutor's Office was contemplating to introduce fines instead of prison sentence for some crimes.
Prosecutor's offices appealed every sevenths verdict.
Last year a total of 397 charges were filed for crimes that fall under the jurisdiction of the Office for the Suppression of Organised Crime and Corruption of which 96.8 percent resulted in guilty verdicts. most of which were prison sentences without the right to parole.
War crimes charges were pressed against 76 people last year, of whom 32 have been given guilty verdicts and ten were acquitted or indictments dismissed.
White collar crime went up three percent.
