ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - After a day-long debate, shortly after 2300 hours Thursday, parliament dismissed a motion by 33 deputies of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to give the government a
no-confidence vote over financial wrongdoing in the Croatian Privatisation Fund (HFP).
ZAGREB, June 29 (Hina) - After a day-long debate, shortly after
2300 hours Thursday, parliament dismissed a motion by 33 deputies of the
Croatian People's Party (HNS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to give the
government a no-confidence vote over financial wrongdoing in the Croatian
Privatisation Fund (HFP). Only 37 deputies from the ranks of the
HNS, SDP and the Istrian Democratic Party (UDS) supported the motion, while 70
MPs of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and their partners were against it.
Six deputies refrained from voting, including those of the Croatian Party of
Rights (HSP).
Deputies also discussed a motion by the SDP to set up an investigating
commission to establish facts concerning the statement by Interior Minister
Ivica Kirin about monitoring a server uploading video clips on YouTube and the
minister's threats to SDP members.
Parliament will resume its session on Friday morning after 10AM.
