ZADAR, July 3 (Hina) - Public support to Croatia's joining NATO exceeds 50 percent, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic said in the coastal town of Zadar on Tuesday evening.

Grabar Kitarovic and Justice Minister Ana Lovrin spoke at a panel discussion on European integration processes and justice reform.

Grabar Kitarovic said that so far Croatia had received 514 million euros from EU pre-accession funds for various projects and that by 2010 the country expected to withdraw another 589 million euros from these funds.

She said there were still prejudice that by joining the EU Croatia would lose its national identity, sovereignty and national products, stressing however, that this was not true.

Justice Minister Lovrin spoke of the national programme aimed at suppressing corruption. She said the programme was being implemented and that Croatia already had models in the programme that were being underlined as examples in some other EU member states such as Bulgaria. According to Lovrin, corruption is present in Croatian society, but much less than generally suggested.

This evening's penal discussion was organised by the Croatian Democratic Union of Zadar County.
