It was described as an articulated public security policy based on the Peace Building Platform, a document prepared by Croatian peace organisations and supported by local authorities and civil society organisations in Vukovar in December 2005.
Believing that NATO membership was not a good option for Croatia, they proposed seven key steps to raise the level of security in the country and promote Croatia as a peace building country.
The steps include delaying a decision to join NATO, continuing the process of accession to the European Union, and stepping up activities within NATO's Partnership for Peace programme to promote cooperation with Partnership members from the region through demilitarisation programmes and joint efforts in the event of environmental, humanitarian and natural disasters.
The representatives of the Centre for Peace Studies said they would present their programme to all parliamentary parties and relevant government bodies.
