"The US lead the way in suggesting that another Albanian state should be created on Serbia's territory, which directly affects relations between the two states," Kostunica said in a statement delivered to the media.
"We feel our request is legitimate that the US, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, should respect Serbia's internationally recognised borders. If the US want to develop good relations with Serbia, it is understood that they have to respect Serbia's territorial integrity. The whole international order and inter-state relations of all sovereign countries rest on that universal rule," Kostunica said.
His reaction came in the wake of US State Secretary Condoleezza Rice's statement that Washington would support additional Belgrade-Pristina talks on Kosovo's final status, as proposed in the latest draft of a UN Security Council resolution, but that eventually Kosovo would be independent, as stated by President George W. Bush.
