In a phone interview with Hina, Blasko Temunovic, who heads the Croatian Bunjevci-Sokci Party, the second largest Croat minority party in Serbia, said that he was attacked by two men carrying a baseball bat and a metal bar, who broke his leg and inflicted serious injuries on him.
Temunovic said he believed the attack had to do with his political activity.
Temunovic was visited in hospital by the president of the Croat National Council, Branko Horvat.
G17 Plus is the only Serbian party to have commented on the incident so far. The party said that problems in civilised societies must not be solved by using violence and that tolerance was a precondition for a normal living in a multiethnic country such as Serbia.
